Hamilton Health Network invites community to celebrate National Health Center Week

FLINT, Michigan — Hospitals and access to healthcare are an integral part of a healthy, thriving community. Locally, Hamilton Community Health Network is a pillar of the greater Flint community. To celebrate National Health Center Week, they’re inviting residents to come together to raise awareness for their work, and recognize their accomplishments.

From Aug. 9-12, the health network will be providing free community resources and civic engagement. Part of the giving event’s goal is to provide access to those in need of resources.

Tim McCarron, lead outreach and enrollment coordinator at Hamilton Community Health Network, says the mission “is to shine a light on our Community Health Center and share the value that it brings to everyone who it touches.”

Some of the resources that will be available this week will be clothing, hygiene products, showers, and laundry services as well as access to many local organizations and their resources.

The event kicks off on Tuesday, Aug. 9 with Community Outreach Day. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., anyone who is struggling to find a place to call home can receive free laundry services, free showers, socks and underwear, hygiene kits, snacks, water bottles, and a visit to the clothing closet. There will also be a food truck providing lunch options, and music on-site.

This event takes place at the Center for Hope in the parking lot of the Hamilton-Flint Clinic at 812 Root St.

Wednesday, Aug. 10 is the Senior Brunch and Learn, located at the McFarlan Court Street Villages. This educational and entertaining session includes food, fitness, conversation, and health resources for local residents. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon, and seating is limited. To RSVP, contact Tim McCarron at 810-406-4246, ext. 4955.

Rounding out the weeklong community event is Family Fun Day on Friday, Aug. 12. “This Friday, we hope to see the whole family at our main clinic to enjoy themselves and some free food, as well as music, entertainment, and a chance to win several raffle prizes,” says McCarron.

The annual event is a favorite for many local families, providing live music, food demonstrations with Chef Nate Brown, health resources, and more. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Hamilton’s Main Clinic, the event is proudly sponsored by HAP, Molina Healthcare, and Genesee Health Plan.
