Community Block Party returns June 7 to celebrate fatherhood, mentorship, and unity

FLINT, Michigan — Families and community members are invited to enjoy food, fun, and fellowship at the 2nd Annual Community Block Party, happening Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the METRO Business Center (1172 Robert T. Longway Blvd., behind the Holiday Inn Express).

Organized in partnership by InvolvedDad, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County (BBBSFGC), and Motherly Intercession, the block party promises an afternoon of celebrating connection, community, and the importance of fatherhood and mentorship.

The event will feature the return of InvolvedDad’s “Father-Que,” a barbecue-style celebration of dads, alongside live music, family-friendly activities, community resource booths, and giveaways.

Admission is free and open to all, with pre-registration encouraged to help organizers plan accordingly. Attendees can register at: Eventbrite Registration.

As part of the festivities, InvolvedDad will also host its inaugural Fatherhood Legacy Luncheon on Thursday, June 5, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at The Durant. The luncheon will feature former Michigan State University Football Head Coach Mark D’Antonio as the keynote speaker, highlighting the value of strong father figures and family leadership.

BBBSFGC is using the month of June to launch its “30 MENtors in 30 Days” campaign, aiming to recruit 30 new male mentors to serve as role models for local youth.

“We’re bringing the community together to uplift fatherhood, celebrate mentorship, and build positive relationships,” said Paul Kilgore, Vice President of Programs at BBBSFGC. “This is more than just an event, it’s a movement.”
