FLINT, Michigan — USA Basketball is making its way to Flint this summer, offering local youth a rare opportunity to train with some of the nation’s top coaches. On Wednesday, August 13, the organization will host a free community clinic at Powers Catholic High School.
The event is designed to inspire and empower young athletes through high-quality instruction and mentorship. USA Basketball Gold Licensed coaches will serve as volunteer clinicians, providing hands-on training and guidance for local participants.
“USA Basketball’s decision to invest in Flint is more than just an event — it’s a statement,” said Jashell Mitchell-Cross, founder of Invisible Giants Foundation. “It says that our youth matter, our coaches matter, and our city deserves access to world-class experiences.”
Organizers say the clinic reflects the broader mission of creating a meaningful impact through sports.
“We’re incredibly thankful to USA Basketball for recognizing the spirit and strength of Flint,” said Traci Pigott, Crim Sports Director. “This is the kind of meaningful impact we strive for — opening doors, building confidence, and helping kids dream bigger.”
