Midwest Invitational Rodeo returns to Flint with action, pride, and new health fair

FLINT, Michigan — The Midwest Invitational Rodeo (MWIR) is set to return to the Genesee County Fairgrounds June 13–14, 2025, bringing back two days of rodeo excitement, cultural celebration, and a renewed focus on community wellness.

Now in its latest edition, the event highlights the legacy and skills of Black cowboys and cowgirls from across the country. Attendees can expect crowd-favorite competitions such as bull riding, barrel racing, and bareback bronc riding.

New this year is the addition of the EmpowerMENt Health & Wellness Fair, expanding the rodeo’s mission to include health education and community empowerment.

Kicking off the weekend is the inaugural MWIR Golf Tournament on Friday, June 13, at Swartz Creek Golf Course with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Later that evening, gates at the fairgrounds open at 7 p.m. for the first round of rodeo competition.

On Saturday, June 14, the EmpowerMENt Health & Wellness Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Genesee County Fairgrounds. Hosted in partnership with Genesee Health System, the fair will offer mental and physical health screenings, panel discussions, interactive demonstrations, and free lunch and giveaways while supplies last.

“This event is bigger and better than ever before,” said MWIR Owner and CEO Nicole Scott. “We’re bringing history, culture, and heart-pounding competition to Flint while also investing in the health and future of our community.”

Tickets are priced at $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the event. The Genesee County Fairgrounds is located at 6130 E. Mt. Morris Rd. in Mt. Morris Township. More information can be found at: midwest-invitational.com
