Cannabis company plans to give away 1000 turkeys to families in need

FLINT, Michigan — The holidays can be tough for many families throughout the community, but Flint’s Light'N Up Provisioning & MicroBuddery is hoping to help by gifting 1000 turkeys this season with the help of more than 50 volunteers.

Thanks to a partnership with the HERO Project USA and the Cannabis Equity Fund, Light’N Up was able to create the event centered around the gifting of turkeys to brighten the holidays for local families.

“We wanted to do something meaningful for our patients and customers that have been so loyal to us and to help the community at large," said Kyle Cohee, owner and founder of Light’N Up. "The last couple of years have been tough on everyone and if we can get 1000 families smiling and enjoying a meal at the Thanksgiving table this year, it will be a successful effort."

While there are a few other giveaways happening, this one is special because it’s more than just the turkeys — it’s a community event. There will be several vendors participating, both cannabis and non-cannabis, and Light’N Up will be handing out swag bags while supplies last. Several vendors will be on-site, including Coffee Beanery who will be serving flavored coffees and hot chocolate.

The event is set to take place Saturday, November 20 from 10 a.m to 8 p.m at the store location on 4184 Pier North Boulevard in Flint. The only requirement is that each person receiving a turkey must be 18 years or older and sign a liability waiver and provide an email address or phone number to receive texts.

Whether you’re someone in need or just want to shop a little, come out and show your community support and maybe even spot a special guest lending a hand.
