$16-million Hyatt Place coming to Mundy Township

MUNDY TWP.—A new Hyatt Place is coming to Mundy Township.

Builders broke ground on May 17 at the Hill Road exit on US-23 for the hotel that will have 106 guest rooms.

“We believe that the Hyatt Place is the right product for this market,” said Ann Kelly, President at Lodgco Hospitality, which is behind the project and owns and manages 16 other hotels in Michigan.

One of those properties is the Hampton in at the same Hill Road exit. Kelly went on to say that Lodgco has been impressed by the performance of the Hampton Inn and thinks there is room for a wider market there.

“We know people are traveling to Genesee County for a variety of reasons and now they will have a Hyatt branded hotel to choose,” she said.

The project is expected to cost $16 million and will employ 20-30 people.

Amenities at the Hyatt Place will include an indoor pool, fitness room, and business center. Breakfast will be available in the gallery kitchen, but there will also be a lounge serving cocktails, beer, wine and 24-hour access to hot food. The hotel will also feature an outdoor patio with a firepit and 1,400 square feet of meeting space.

The hotel is expected to open in mid-2019.
