Flint celebrates 67 years of sports and friendship at CANUSA Block Party, July 25

FLINT, Michigan — The spirit of sportsmanship and international friendship will take center stage on Friday, July 25, as the Crim Fitness Foundation hosts the CANUSA Block Party at Mott Park Clubhouse (2401 Nolen Dr). The family-friendly event, running from 4 to 8 p.m., will feature bounce houses, live music, food trucks, vendors, a three-point competition, and more.

The block party also serves as a fundraiser for two Flint athletic traditions: the Greater Flint Olympian Games and the CANUSA Games. Both events have united youth athletes from Flint and its sister city, Hamilton, Ontario, for more than six decades.

“This isn’t just a party,” said Terence Greene II, Program Manager for the Crim Fitness Foundation. “It’s about remembering the rich tradition of athletes in our city and making sure our kids can experience the excitement the CANUSA Games have brought to Flint over the last 67 years. We want to ensure these Games are never forgotten and bring excitement to the athletes, families, and the entire community.”

Founded in 1957, the Greater Flint Olympian Games give local youth opportunities to compete, build character, and grow through sports. The CANUSA Games, one of the longest-running amateur sporting exchanges in North America, continues to strengthen the bond between Flint and Hamilton through friendly competition.

The block party will offer an evening of food, fun, and fellowship in one of Flint’s historic neighborhoods. Organizers encourage the Flint community to come out to celebrate and support local youth athletes.

Attendees can sign up in advance online or simply show up ready to join the fun. Proceeds will directly support the athletes, families, and volunteers who make the games possible. For more information, call 810-201-8459.
