Editor's note: This is part of a series of Flintside articles highlighting women religious leaders in Flint.

Donna K. (Gilbert) Holmes a native of Flint, Michigan. She was born the middle child of five to Gary D. Gilbert and Vernita (Willis) (Gilbert) Scott. She has been married for 12 years to Dr. Skeetter D. Holmes, pastor of Reaching the World Ministries. Together they have five children and two grandchildren.

Donna’s Christian journey began September 2001 shortly after the 9-11 attacks. Prior joining St. Peter CME church under the leadership of the Rev. James C. Hendricks, she had no Christian experience. Donna was an active member of the youth and young adult choir and served faithfully as a stewardess. During this time she accepted her call to preach the gospel and served as a local preacher.

She served there until her departure to follow her husband to Royal Priesthood Ministries Church where Pastors Harold and Sherri Britton oversee. Donna and her husband served there for 10 faithful years until being ordained and released as the founding pastors of Reaching the World Ministries International.

Donna graduated from Northwestern High school and went on to Mott Community College where she earned her associate's degree in Early Childhood Education and received her cosmetology license. She and her husband later went on together to receive their bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. in Christian Leadership and Philosophy from Bethlehem Bible Institute.

Donna enjoys reading, writing, and being with her family. Donna is currently serving as the CEO and director of Kingdom Kampus Child Development Center where she provides quality childcare services for 30-plus children aging from birth to age 12. Donna also stands in the office as a Pastor/Teacher alongside her husband Dr. Skeeter D. Holmes.
