FLINT, Michigan—Have a seat for charity, literally. Catholic Charities of Flint and Shiawassee Counties are holding their first-ever “Chair-ity” event on Saturday, Nov. 9, to benefit The Center for Hope in Flint.

The new signature event is considered Catholic Charities fundraising event of the year. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on more than 50 unique chairs crafted by local groups, artists and students from Catholic schools throughout the community.

The Chair-ity event starts with 6 p.m. cocktails at Genesys Banquet Center, 805 Health Park Blvd., Grand Blanc, followed by dinner and the program at 6:30 p.m. The live auction begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $100 per person, which includes dinner and inspiring stories of hope, healing and lives changed, as well as entry into the Answered Prayer Superdraw — and a chance to win up to $4,000. Multiple levels of sponsorship are also available.

“The Center for Hope really is a community effort,” said president and CEO Vicky Schultz. “Without the generosity of our donors, we could not offer the range of services we provide. Our goal is to make this fundraiser a community event as well, because each chair submitted will literally be a work of art that raises money to help those in need.”

Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties has been working with individuals, families and communities — regardless of faith — since its beginnings as the Catholic Social Service Bureau in 1941. Services include help for the poor, foster care and adoption, counseling, parolee assistance, and family supports.
