Brooklyn artist Leo Tecosky brings live glass art-making demos to FIA, August 2–3

FLINT, Michigan — Brooklyn-based glass artist Leo Tecosky is headed to the Flint Institute of Arts for a weekend of free public glassblowing demonstrations in the FIA Hot Shop on Saturday, August 2 (11 a.m.–4 p.m.) and Sunday, August 3 (1–4 p.m.).

Tecosky, known for fusing Hip-Hop aesthetics and graffiti culture with traditional glassmaking techniques, will create original works live alongside the FIA Hot Shop team. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see this boundary-pushing artist in action and learn more about his distinctive process.

In addition to the demos, Tecosky’s work ST1LL LIFE is currently on view in the FIA’s Contemporary Glass Wing.

A graduate of Alfred University and the School of Visual Arts, Tecosky has exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum and Cooper Hewitt, with works in the collections of the Chrysler Museum and the Flint Institute of Arts. He is the recipient of the 36th Corning Museum Rakow Commission and the 2023 Maxwell/Hanrahan Award in Craft.
