FLINT, Michigan — After a nationwide search, Nino Sapone has been chosen by the Bishop International Airport Authority to be the new deputy airport director of operations and maintenance.

“I am truly excited and honored about the opportunity to join the team of dedicated professionals at Bishop International Airport,” Sapone said in a press release. “It is apparent that the FNT staff takes great pride in providing passengers an exceptional level of customer service and a safe, comfortable, and friendly airport experience. I look forward to being a part of such a team.”

In his new position, Sapone’s daily responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing the activities of all maintenance, operations, engineering, and public safety functions of the Airport Authority as well as coordinating related activities with all tenants, federal, state, local agencies and other related aviation user groups.

Sapone holds a bachelor of science degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania and has over 25 years of industry experience. He is also an accredited airport executive through the American Association of Airport Executives and most recently served as vice president for airport operations at Pittsburgh International Airport.

“Nino Sapone brings to Bishop International Airport a broad range of experience and professional accomplishments,” said Craig Williams, Bishop International Airport director. “The airport will clearly benefit from his background in airport operations and emergency management. I am thrilled to have him join our leadership team.”

Sapone is expected to begin his new position later this month.
