Genesee Intermediate School District to host Spring Career Fair for teachers and support staff

FLINT, Michigan — On Wednesday, March 13, the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) will be hosting its Spring Career Fair to attract educators and school staff. The event will be hosted at the Genesee Career Institute Conference Center from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“We are looking for people who want to make an impact in the community, by bringing their unique skills, talents, and passions to our organization and those students and families we serve. Our team members demonstrate a high level of collaboration, positivity, innovation, initiative, and dedication,” said Jeffrey Adams, Executive Director of Human Resources at GISD.

At the Spring Career Fair, job seekers can look forward to on-site, one-on-one interviews for all vacant positions. Based on the position available, after the initial interview screening, there may be additional levels of interviews with the next level of leadership. A formal offer would need to be prepared and reviewed.

However, all offers are contingent upon a background check and fingerprinting. For those who attend the career fair and are hired, GISD will waive the fingerprinting costs. This saves each hire $62 in savings.

“At GISD, we are collaborators, leaders, educators, and service providers. While our services are located within Genesee County, it is not a requirement to live in the community. We would love to have you join our team and help make a profound impact in our community and with those we serve,” said Adams. “This is a unique opportunity to build relationships with those that you could potentially be working with. Come out and learn about GISD and all of the amazing opportunities we have for people to enjoy a long career with us!”

At the event, GISD will be featuring positions for immediate hire and positions that will begin next school year. Currently, the District is looking to fill roles in the following departments: Business Services, Transportation, Special Education Services, Center for Countywide Programs, Operations, Technology and Media Services, and Education and Learning.

Human Resources will be available to answer any questions and can explain GISD's comprehensive benefit offerings. For updated information on open positions and the necessary qualifications for each role, job seekers are encouraged to visit www.gisdjobs.org

The career fair is a free event and is open to the public. For questions and additional support, job seekers are welcome to call the GISD office at (810) 591-4260.

“We encourage everyone to share the information about the career fair with anyone that you think might be interested in a current open position,” said Adams.

GISD serves a region with over 64,000 students and 8,500 education staff, through 21 public schools and 14 public school academies (charter schools) in Genesee County. To learn more about the GISD schools and educational programs, visit www.geneseeisd.org.
